Easter

We had a great Easter weekend! I have to admit though I was surprised at how commercialized even this simple holiday has become! When we were talking to the kids about what Easter REALLY is, and how we should remember Jesus Christ, Ammon said, "thats not really what it's about is it mommy?" So we took some time to tell them and try to help them understand that the Easter Bunny is only a part of what it is about and that we need to remember what Jesus has done for us and remember that we love him. They seemed to really understand and it was neat to see them listen so intently!

On Wednesday we had play group and had an Easter egg hunt and decorated cupcakes. The kids had fun and loved eating their cupcakes. Then on Friday, Andrew didn't have to work, and the weather was so nice, so we went to Cache Valley and the baby animal days at the American West Heritage Center. They had lots of baby animals to pet and hold and other animals to see as well as a few other activities. Although my kids were too afraid to touch any of the animals, they had a blast and loved seeing all the animals. Then on Sunday, we had church, and then a wonderful dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Harts. The kids got some goodies and had an Easter egg hunt. We had so much time being together as a family!

Sleep!

A few weeks ago while on Facebook, I noticed that Jamie, a friend of mine, had said something about sleep training had changed her life. It intrigued me to ask about it and when I did she said she would email me the book and that it would be worth it! The book is called The Sleep Sense Program, and is written by Dana Obleman. I went into the program very skeptical, thinking that maybe I would get a few good idea and maybe it would help a little. By the third night of completely implementing the steps, Dylan slept all the way through the night! I am talking 8:30 to 7:00 in the morning. It was awesome!!! And as a result, we all get more sleep and I have adjusted our nightly routine so my kids are back to our strict bedtime and bedtime goes a lot smoother.

Not only are we all sleeping better, but in reading the book, I learned how important it really is for our kids to be getting the full night sleep to function and how when they don't sleep, it can affect all aspects of their lives. I recommend this book to EVERYONE because it works, and it is easy!!!

4 Months

I cannot believe that Dylan is 4 months old. She has been such a good baby, and over the last couple of nights has even decided that everyone is much happier when she sleeps! She finally slept till 4 or 5, which is a HUGE accomplishment for her. We took her to the doctor yesterday for her check up and vaccinations. (And when I say we...it was me and ALL the kids.) She did so well. She weighs 13 pounds 4 ounces, and is 26 inches long. She was completely off the charts for her height. It really wasn't surprising since she is already wearing 6-9 months in most of her clothes. I am so glad that she has been blessed with good health and is growing just like she should be.

PARTY!!!

We had such a busy week last week, and thankfully the weather was nice so we could do so much outside. On Tuesday, Zackary who is one of Ammons school friends had a very fun "green" party. We had green cookies, green koolaid, green rice krispy treats, and lots of FUN!!! Unfortunatley I had taken only 2 pictures and they weren't even that good. But Ammon and Abigail had so much fun so thank you to Zack and his mom Heather!

Then on Wednesday, we had a birthday party for Owen, who is a friend of Abbey's from church! It was such an original idea and MY kids talked about it for days. We went to the South Ogden fire department, and had a tour, got to walk through an ambulance and a fire engine, and then we went and had cupcakes and played on the playground. On our way to the playground Ammon turfed it pretty bad, but still wanted to play! What a boy!

Play Date!!!

Last Monday, when the weather was more decent than the last few days, we had a play date with some of Ammons friends from school. Besides the wind the day was perfect! We went to the duck pond and then went to the playground. The kids snacked and played, and could have stayed there forever! It was so much fun and great to be outdoors again!

It is so worth it!

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to go to a parents day at Ammons preschool. My parents came and watched the girls so that I could give all of my attention to Ammon. (Thanks mom and dad!!!!!) We got to help them finish up an art project, see there progress, and my favorite part was to watch them put on a little program.






He has done so well in his class this year. He has made some GREAT friends, he loves his teacher, and he absolutely LOVES learning.

Strictly my opinion

Up until about three years ago, I never had much of an opinion on politics, politicians, or anything that had to do with the two. Andrew, my wonderful husband is very aware when it comes to politics, and knows a lot about everything that entails. Because of this, I have become more involved, and have started forming my own opinions about it. I was able to listen to most of President Barack Obamas first speech from the white house and I was SO impressed with him and the things he said. He has my support 100% and I believe he will bring the change that America needs.
